Bayern Munich will be looking to bounce back to winning ways when they welcome Bayer Leverkusen to Allianz Arena for the local derby in their Bundesliga matchday eight tie on Friday night.
Bayern Munich have had a difficult start to the new Bundesliga campaign as the German giants went to the first international break sitting fifth in the league standings on 12 points from seven fixtures.
They suffered a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Augsburg in their previous league fixture, extending their winless run to four matches in the Germany top flight, having recorded three consecutive draws prior to the defeat.
They are now five points off the summit of the league table and they will be desperate to get their campaign on track as they hope to reduce the gap between themselves and Union Berlin at the top. They have gone six matches unbeaten against Leverkusen, winning five times in the run and thus they should feel confident of bouncing back on Friday.
Leverkusen, meanwhile, have had a much worse start to the Bundesliga campaign, as they have only managed to win once in their seven matches, while drawing twice and suffering four defeats in the process.
They now sit 15th on five points, just one place and a goal-difference above the relegation zone. Therefore they will be desperate to turn around their fortunes on Friday as they look to climb away from the danger zone.
Leverkusen have not lost their last three matches across all competitions, drawing two in Bundesliga and winning one against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League. They will be looking to build on the run as they look to get the better of Bayern.
