Fulham will look to take another step towards an automatic promotion when they travel to Oakwell Ground to take on a troubled Barnsley in their next Championship fixture on Saturday afternoon with kickoff at 15:30.
Barnsley are slowly running out of matches as the season slowly grinds to an end. The Tykes are still battling to salvage their season as they sit second from bottom with five points adrift of safety and need to be effective in the remaining 11 matches.
Barnsley have been slowly picking themselves up recently with the side collecting 10 points from their last six matches, nearly half of their total points for the entire campaign. Although, they have been slowed down with a 2-0 defeat to fellow relegation battlers Derby County and a 1-1 draw with Stoke City in their last two matches.
They will need to quickly turnaround their fortunes again if they are to salvage their campaign, manager Poya Asbaghi will feel they have every chance to remain in the second tier providing they don’t completely lose focus and individual performances like Domingos Quina continue to impress.
Meanwhile Fulham have been suburb this season and continued their superiority in the Championship in the midweek as they cruised to 5-1 victory against Swansea City, increasing their lead to 14 points in the process.
With 11 matches remain Marco Silva will be aware that 16 points from their final 10 matches will secure a place in the Premier League for next season because of the two matches in hand for second-placed Bournemouth. However, a couple of more positive results will surely render Bournemouth’s games in hand irrelevant while sealing Fulham’s success in the process.
Silva will therefore stress the importance of this match to his men and with their current form we expect a routine victory here for the Cottagers.
