Austria Wien and Villarreal will renew their rivalry when they face off the Generali Arena in their fourth round of the Conference League in Group C on Thursday night.
Austria Wien have made struggled in their European endeavors this season and they remain winless in Group C of the Europa League. After drawing 0-0 with Hapoel Beer Sheva on the opening night, Austria Wien have lost two games in a row suffering 4-1 Lech Poznan and 5-0 to Villarreal.
With just one point Wien sit at the bottom of the table, eight points off Villarreal at the summit and three points behind Poznan in second place. Therefore they sit have a chance of advancing to the knockout stages of the competition, but only a win on Thursday can keep their hope alive.
They claimed a hard-fought 2-1 away win over Rapid Wien last time out in the Austrian Bundesliga and they will looking to draw confidence from the victory as they seek to get off their Europa League campaign.
Meanwhile Villarreal have done well in the Group C of the Europa League as they have won all their opening three matches and currently sit top of the group with five points in the clear.
They 5-0 victory over Wien was followed by a 1-0 defeat to Real Sociedad in La Liga last weekend. Therefore they will be looking to bounce back on Thursday, knowing that a win will surely ensure their top-place finish in Group C.
