Atletico Madrid vs Levante Match Analysis and Prediction

Atletico Madrid will be looking for a victory that would see them return to the top four ahead of Barcelona when they welcome Levante to Wanda Metropolitano on Wednesday.

The hosts enter the fixture off the back of a 4-3 victory over Getafe on Saturday, while Levante lost 4-2 to Real Betis at the weekend.

Atletico’s 4-2 defeat against Barcelona on February 6 saw them drop out of the top four in La Liga, but they managed to return to winning ways on Saturday, taking all the three points from Getafe at Wanda Metropolitano.

The Red and Whites are not in the title race this season, sitting 15 points behind leaders Real Madrid, but they are level on points with fourth-placed Barcelona, which means a draw or a victory in this match would see them return to fourth in the table.

Diego Simeone’s side now have back-to-back league games against Levante and Osasuna before hosting Manchester United for the first leg of their last-16 Champions League contest on February 23.

Atletico Madrid have been strong at home in La Liga this season, picking up 24 points from their 11 matches, suffering just one defeat in the process, while Levante have the worst away record, collecting just two points from 11 games.

Levante have picked up just 11 points from their 23 league matches this season, which has left them sitting at the bottom of the La Liga table, 12 points from the safety of 17th position.

The Frogs have scored 23 league goals this season, which is far from a disastrous tally, but they have conceded 50.

However, Alessio Lisci’s side are unbeaten in their last three La Liga matches against Atletico Madrid, and recorded a surprise 2-0 victory when they travelled to Wanda Metropolitano for the corresponding match last season.

Atletico Madrid news

Atletico will be without the services of Daniel Wass and Antoine Griezmann through injury, while Yannick Carrasco is a major doubt after testing positive for COVID-19.

Felipe is also out with his red card against Getafe, while Simeone could freshen his midfield by introducing Rodrigo De Paul for Geoffrey Kondogbia.

Levante news

Levante’s Roger Marti is available again following a suspension, but Roberto Soldado is absent with his red card against Real Betis on Sunday.

With Ruben Vezo being a fresh injury blow from the weekend, Rober could come into the back four for this match, with Dani Gomez featuring at centre-forward.

Prediction and Odds

Atletico enter the contest as favourites, but they have had a difficult season. With Levante having the ability to find the back of the net in Madrid, we see the game being a tight one.

The hosts have an aim to leapfrog Barcelona into fourth, though, and we predict a narrow home win.
