Both Athletic Bilbao and Getafe will be seeking to bounce back to winning ways when they lock horns at San Mames Stadium the opening tie of LaLiga Matchday 29 on Friday night with kickoff at 23:00.
Athletic Bilbao suffered a slender 1-0 defeat to Real Betis in their previous LaLiga outing at away last Monday night. The defeat saw them concede their fourth defeat in their last six games across all competitions, while it continued their recent inconsistency in LaLiga.
They have been on tendency of alternating defeats and victories in their last five top-flight matches, picking up two victories while suffering three defeats in the run. They will be looking to end the run and make amends for the Monday defeat, as they aim at getting closer to the European places.
Bilbao currently sit in eighth on 40 points from 28 matches, seven points outside the top-six and will fancy their chances of reducing the gap with a positive result on Friday as they are currently in a fine home form, having lost none of their last six home matches with a three-match winning streak.
Meanwhile despite a good performance last time out, which saw them hold Valencia to a 0-0 draw at home last Saturday, Getafe continue to struggle for form in LaLiga this season with the club now managing just one win in their last seven league matches, picking up four draws and two defeats in the process.
They still remain in a relegation battle as they sit three places and four points above the drop zone and with the campaign drawing closer to its conclusion, Los Azulones will be keen to turn around their fortunes in LaLiga starting with the Friday clash in the process to salvage their season.
However, they are yet to win at away this season and have picked up four draws and eight defeats in their 14 matches on the road, which is something Bilbao will look to take advantage of. Also the last time they visited San Mames, they fell to a thumping 5-1 defeat.
