Espanyol will look to end their four game winless run in the La Liga this Wednesday when they travel to Estadio de Mendizorroza for a clash against the bottom rooted Deportivo Alaves. Kickoffs at 20:00 EAT.
Alaves is currently placed at the very foot of the league table, with six points between them and the safe zone and just three matches to spare. The team will try and catch the last train in the battle for avoiding relegation on Wednesday evening when they host Espanyol in Matchday No 36 of La Liga. There are slim hopes of survival ride on them being able to end the season with three straight wins.
Babazorros El Glorioso gets into this meeting hoping for better results following 4-0 La Liga defeat in at the hands of Celta Vigo in their previous outing. In that match, Alaves managed 33% possession and three shots with only one of them on target. Celta de Vigo got 14 shots with six of them on target and goals by Galhardo (6′), Iago Aspas (34′, 66′) and Franco Cervi (57′).
Meanwhile, Espanyol is battling for a top half finish; currently they are placed 13th with 40 points points to their name. In their 16 league games since the turn of the year, Vicente Moreno’s side has managed to pick up just three victories, with the most recent of those coming at home to Celta Vigo, and they have now failed to add another notch to their wins column in four attempts. Espanyol have also been much better at home than on the road throughout the season, winning just one of 17 league outings so far in the season.
Periquitos shared spoils 1-1 La Liga with Osasuna in their last encounter. In that match, Espanyol had 51% possession, 12 shots with three of them on target and a goal scored by Nico Melamed (67′). CA Osasuna got 13 shots with five of them on target and a goal by Kike Barja (42′).

Prediction and odds
This match has a much bigger significance for Alaves and we expect them to take advantage of the home court and pick up a precious three-pointer that would leave them in race for avoiding the drop. Espanyol is without a win in their last four league outings and we expect their struggles to continue as they don’t have much to fight for here.
