Ajax take on Heerenveen at the Johan Cruyff on Wednesday looking for a win that will help them clinch their fourth consecutive Eredivisie title.
The visitors, who are in the race for the Conference League playoff spots, will be seeking to get one over the hosts, having lost each of the last five meetings between the sides since 2019.
Ajax were denied a third win in a row last Sunday as they could only play out a 2-2 draw with fifth-placed AZ Alkamaar when the sides met at the AFAS Stadion.
Prior to that, Ajax had suffered a 2-1 defeat against PSV Eindhoven in the Dutch Cup final on April 17, before defeating NEC Nijmegen and PEC Zwolle in the Eredivisie respectively.
De Godenzonen are now unbeaten in each of their last eight league matches, picking up seven wins and one draw since a 2-1 defeat away to Go Ahead Eagles back in February.
Eric Ten Haag’s side could now confirm their fourth consecutive league crown with a win on Wednesday as they boast a four-point gap over second-placed PSV Eindhoven with just two games remaining.
Meanwhile, Heerenveen returned to winning ways last time out when they came from behind to defeat Vitesse 2-1 at the Gelredome Stadium.
Before that, De Superfriezen saw their six-game unbeaten run come to an end through a 2-1 defeat to AZ Alkmaar on April 23 before playing out a 3-3 draw with Cambuur.
Heerenveen have recorded 10 wins, eight draws and 14 losses from their 32 matches to collect 38 points and sit eighth in the league standings, level on points with ninth-placed NEC Nijmegen just outside the Conference League qualification playoff spots.
They will look to claim successive away victories , but next up is an opposing side who they have failed to defeat in the league since 2009.
