Leyton Orient will be looking for a win that would help them go six points clear at the top of the League Two table when they travel to Plough Lane to take on AFC Wimbledon on Tuesday.

While the hosts were held to a 1-1 draw with National League South side Weymouth, the visitors are unbeaten in their last five league matches but were eliminated from the FA Cup on Saturday.

Wimbledon have struggled so far this year following last season’s relegation from League One, sitting in 15th place with just five wins to their name.

However, they are in the midst of a three-game unbeaten run in the league courtesy of Josh Davison’s late winner in the 3-2 victory over Harrogate Town at the end of October.

Davison is the club’s top scorer this season with six goals to his name, but it is at the other end where they have struggled with just three clean sheets all season, all of which came in August.

Even though they sit in the bottom half of the table, a win against the leaders would take them to within five points of the playoff spots.

Leyton Orient have been impressive on their way to the top of League Two, after a number of underwhelming campaigns since their promotion back to the fourth tier in 2019.

They went 10 league matches without tasting defeat at the start of the season, before losing to Newport County at the beginning of October.

Richie Wellens’ side beat Salford City two weeks ago, but were dumped out of the FA Cup at Crewe Alexandra at the weekend through a Bassala Sambou winner in second-half stoppage time after Craig Clay had been sent off for the visitors. However, they enter the contest having won five of their seven away matches this season.

Wimbledon fielded a full-strength squad at Weymouth on Saturday in the FA Cup, and we expect to see an unchanged side from that game.

Courtney Senior started on the right side of the midfield, and he could keep his place ahead of Ethan Chislett, who was not even on the bench against the Dorset side.

Leyton could revert back to the side that beat Salford on October 29, with Aaron Drinan, Paul Smyth, Darren Pratley, Theo Archibald, Idris El Mizouni and Dan Happe likely to come back into the starting XI.

Craig Clay will remain suspended, meaning there could be a place on the bench for Jayden Wareham.
