The Puwan Stadium will be the venue for a top-of-the-table clash in the Chinese Super League as Wuhan Three Towns and Shanghai Shenhua square off on Sunday.
The hosts are currently sitting at the summit of the league standings with 17 points from seven matches so far, two points and a place above the Sunday’s visitors.
Wuhan Three Towns continue to keep a good run of form in the new Chinese Super League campaign as they claimed a 2-1 victory at Guangzhou FC on Thursday.
After falling behind in the 21st minute to Dinghao Yan’s penalty, Nicolae Stanciu restored parity just two minutes later before Pengfei Xie scored in the 48th minute to turn the game around.
Pedro Morilla’s side have announced their arrival in grand style following their promotion to the top tier, winning six of their opening seven matches to sit at the top of the Super League table.
The newly-promoted side have now only dropped points at the Jinzhou Stadium on June 12, when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Shanghai Shenhua.
Wuhan Three Towns head into Sunday’s contest on a blistering run of 12 successive victories on home soil across all competitions, stretching back to a 2-2 draw with Nanjing City back in August 2021.
Meanwhile, Shanghai Shenhua were denied a fourth win in a row last Wednesday when they were held to a 1-1 draw by local rivals Shanghai Port.
Like this Sunday’s hosts, Wu Jingui’s side are unbeaten in the league so far this season, securing five wins and two draws from their opening seven matches.
Shanghai Shenhua have also not lost a single game in 2022, with their last defeat coming back on December 21 2021 when Henrique Dourado scored a second-half brace to hand Henan Songshan Longmen a 2-0 victory.
