Wolverhampton will be looking to extend their winning streak in the Premier League on the bounce when they welcome Leeds United to Molineux Stadium on Friday night with kickoff at 23:00.
Wolves managed to make back-to-back victories in the Premier League following the 1-0 victory at Everton last Sunday, with the captain making the difference in the 49th minute. Prior to that, the Wanderers were off an emphatic 4-0 victory over Watford at home, ending their three-match losing streak in the English top-flight.
The win at Goodison Park saw them leapfrog Tottenham and they now sit in seventh on 46 points from 29 matches, one point above the Lilywhites and five outside the top-four, although they have played three matches more than the fourth-placed Arsenal and two more than Tottenham.
They will therefore be looking to extend their winning streak in the hunt for the top-four while also keeping their European place in the process. They will fancy their chances as they are unbeaten in the last six encounters against Leeds, claiming five victories and four clean sheets in the run.
Meanwhile Leeds United finally ended the long run of poor form in the Premier League as they claimed a dramatic 2-1 win over fellow relegation battler’s Norwich City at Elland Road last Sunday. The game witnessed two goals in the four minutes of extra-time for both side, but it was Joe Gelhardt who became Leeds hero on the day with his last minute winner, just a minute after his introduction in the game.
The win ended their eight-match winless run, which included a six-match losing streak in the top flight and saw them go four points clear of the relegation zone. The Whites still have a lot to do to salvage their season as they still are just two places above the relegation zone and have played three matches more than the 17th-placed Everton and two more than the 19th-placed Burnley.
They will therefore be looking to make back-to-back victories on the bounce as they seek to climb further away from the danger zone. They will be confident following the performance they put in the last match, although they have lost three away matches in a row ahead of the trip to Molineux.
