Wolfsburg Vs Sevilla Match Analysis and Prediction

Wolfsburg host Sevilla in the second round of fixtures of the Champions League at the Volkswagen Arena on Wednesday with kickoff at 22:00.

Both sides will be looking for their first Group G win this week having both played out draws in their opening fixture with Bundesliga high-flyers drawing 0-0 with Lille while the La Liga outfit drew 1-1 with Red Bull Salzburg at home.

Both sides started their domestic campaigns reasonably well as Wolfsburg have won four out of their opening six games but surprisingly slipped at the weekend when they went down to 3-1 defeat at the Hoffenheim and as result Wolfsburg have been usurped by Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen at the top of the Bundesliga standings. Sevilla meanwhile are unbeaten in their opening six games and are currently third with 14 points in La Liga standings but would go top of the league if they win their game in hand. They head into the match of the back of comfortable wins against Valencia and Espanyol.

These two head into the clash in slightly contrasting forms with hosts being in a slightly above average form as they have lost one of their last encounters across all competitions recording two wins and three draws. The hosts have been struggling to find the net at their home turf scoring just one goal in each of their home games this season but their home form in Champions League seasons gone by is something to behold as Wolfsburg have not hosted a champions League match since beating Real Madrid 2-0 in April 2016.

Meanwhile the visitors head into the match in a good form as they haven’t lost in any of their last six games across all competitions recording three wins and three draws and have been solid in their away matches this season having only conceded once in their last three away fixtures and their last away defeat in the Champions League coming all the way back in October 2017 to Spartak Moscow.
