Do you ever wonder which NFL players are the richest? There have been a lot of NFL players that have come and gone, even a few before my time. Some were skilled on the field and others off the field. We are excited to share how much NFL players make today and how much they made in the past.
Today the average salary for a pro football player is $1.9 million a year, but there are those few football players that can make up to $100 million a year. Let’s look at who is the richest NFL player, how much they make, and how many people from each team make what we call “the big salary.”
5. Aaron Rodgers – Net Worth: $120 Million
Aaron Rodgers is an American football quarterback for the Green Bay Packers of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at California, where he was the starting quarterback for three years and was drafted in the first round of the 2005 NFL Draft by the Packers. Rodgers has been named to four Pro Bowls, was the MVP of Super Bowl XLV, and was named league MVP by The Sporting News in 2011.
Rodgers led the Packers to a victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XLV after spending his first six seasons as a backup on the team. In 2014, his second season as starting quarterback, Rodgers led a late-season run and helped them win their fourth championship over the Detroit Lions in Super Bowl XLVIII.
4. Drew Brees – Net Worth: $ 120 Million
Drew Brees is one of the most successful players in NFL history. He has led his team, the New Orleans Saints, to multiple victories and was named MVP twice. He has also been awarded the Walter Payton Man of the Year award twice, given to players who have shown excellence on and off the field.
Brees has been playing for over 20 years and is still going strong. Some of his biggest accomplishments include passing Dan Marino’s passing record in Week 2 against the Washington Redskins in 2018 and breaking Peyton Manning’s passing yards record in Week 13 against the Dallas Cowboys in 2017.
According to Celebrity Net Worth, Drew Brees’ net worth is $130 million, although some sources claim that it could be as high as $200 million or more.
3. Eli Manning – Net Worth: $160 Million
Eli Manning has been the starting quarterback for the New York Giants since 2004 when he was drafted first overall by the San Diego Chargers. However, he was traded to New York, where he has played. He is currently playing with his brother, Peyton Manning, who plays for Denver Broncos, and his older brother, Peyton’s father, Archie Manning, also a former NFL player. The Manning family has been in the spotlight ever since Eli joined the NFL, and they have continued to be there ever since.
The following year after being drafted into the NFL, he started his career with an impressive win against divisional rival Dallas Cowboys during week one of the regular season. With the Giants, he has earned many awards throughout his career, including two Super Bowl Championships and another two NFC East division titles, along with four Pro Bowl selections over his 12 seasons in the league.
2. Tom Brady – Net Worth: $250 Million
According to Celebrity Net Worth, the New England Patriots quarterback has an estimated net worth of $180 million. That figure includes his salary from the Patriots and his endorsement, deals with Under Armour and UGG Australia.
Brady signed a contract extension with the Patriots in December 2016 worth $41 million for 2017 and 2018. The deal also included a $28 million signing bonus and incentives to push the total value to $60 million if he plays at least 90 percent of snaps in both seasons.
Over his 17-year career, Brady has made around $180 million in salary alone, not counting endorsements or other investments. He’s also won five Super Bowls over that span — two of which were MVPs — and has been named Super Bowl MVP three times.
1. Peyton Manning – Net Worth: $250 Million
Peyton Manning is a former NFL quarterback who played for the Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos. He led his teams to five league championships and two Super Bowl wins, which is why he’s considered one of the greatest NFL players ever.
On March 24, 1976, Manning was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. He started playing football at the age of five and was recruited by several colleges when he was in high school. He attended the University of Tennessee, where he set numerous records as quarterback for their football team.
Manning was drafted into the National Football League (NFL) by the Indianapolis Colts in 1998 and quickly became a star player for them. In 2004, he signed a seven-year contract with them worth $99 million and led them to three consecutive playoff appearances from 2003-to 05. In 2010, he signed with the Denver Broncos, who won Super Bowl 50 in 2016 with him as their quarterback; this made him only one of six players to win Super Bowls with two different teams (John Elway, Charles Haley, Jim Plunkett, Marcus Allen).
