10. Michael Jackson and Scott Pippen – 6

Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player ever to play the game. He won six championships with the Chicago Bulls, making him the most decorated player in the history of the NBA. But his teammate, Scottie Pippen, also has a lot to be proud of: he’s also won six rings.

He also holds many individual records, including most career points per game average (30.12), most career field goals made (11,256), highest career free throw percentage (.905), most points scored in a single game (but not since broken by Kobe Bryant on January 22nd, 2003).

This duo was unstoppable during their time together. They were so good that they led their team to three consecutive championship wins from 1991-1993. In 1996 and 1997, they took home another two rings together before finally parting ways on bad terms when Pippen signed with Portland Trail Blazers.

9. Bob Cousy – 6

Bob Cousy is a legendary point guard who was one of the most important players in the history of the Boston Celtics. He played for them during their Bill Russell era and, in just ten seasons, won six NBA championships and an MVP award in 1957.

Cousy was nicknamed “The Houdini of Hardwood” because of his ability to dribble out of almost any situation. He also led the league in assists eight times and had a career average of 9.5 per game.

He retired with over 10,000 assists and was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1971.

8. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar – 6

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is an all-time great, and he’s also the holder of six NBA championship rings.

The two-time MVP and six-time champion was a dominant force on the court, leading the league in scoring during his career with 38,387 points. He won the NBA MVP award six times and was named to 19 All-Star teams with 26 All-NBA and All-Defensive Team selections.

Abdul-Jabbar also won one title with the Milwaukee Bucks in 1971, where he played for seven seasons before being traded to Los Angeles Lakers. He spent another 12 seasons before retiring in 1989 at age 42.

With his six titles and numerous awards, Abdul-Jabbar is easily among the greatest players in the history of the NBA.

7. Jim Loscutoff and Frank Ramsey

Both players were part of the Bill Russell-led Boston Celtics dynasty that won seven championships in nine years in the 1950s, and they each won one ring as members of other dynasties.

Loscutoff was a member of the 1957 Celtic squad, which was considered one of the best teams ever assembled. He also played on a Lakers team that won five titles in the 1960s (winning three), and he played for the Knicks during their early 1970s dynasty (winning two more). This makes him tied for fourth all-time with seven career rings.

Ramsey was drafted by the St. Louis Hawks in 1956 but did not play for them until 1958 when he was traded to Boston after playing for two seasons with the Rochester Royals. He also played for an early 70s Knicks team that won two championships. This makes him tied for sixth all-time with seven career rings.

6. Robert Horry – 7

It’s hard to believe there was a time when Robert Horry was considered a role player. Then you look at his résumé and realize he’s won seven NBA championships, which is more than most players in history.

Horry’s first ring came in 1994 when he was part of a Rockets team led by Hakeem Olajuwon that beat the New York Knicks. He then joined the Lakers for three consecutive titles from 2000 to 2002.

Horry has been a part of some incredible teams, including the Rockets’ 1995 championship team and the Lakers’ 2009 team that featured Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, Lamar Odom, and Andrew Bynum.

His nickname is “Big Shot Bob” because of his ability to come off the bench and hit big shots late in games.

5. Satch Sanders and K.C Jones – 8

Satch Sanders and K.C. Jones is tied for the most NBA rings with eight apiece. Both men have a unique connection to Bill Russell. Sanders was a member of the Boston Celtics dynasty that Russell led to 11 championships in 13 seasons, while Jones played alongside Russell in college at USF.

Sanders averaged 8.8 points and 5.8 rebounds per game in the NBA playoffs, while Jones averaged 6.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game in the NBA playoffs.

Sanders won six NBA rings from 1961 to 1966 and then won back-to-back in 1968 and 1969, while Jones won four straight from 1964 through 1967 before retiring after winning again in 1969—the last year he was eligible for an NBA championship ring as a player or coach (he coached until 1979).

4. Tom Heinsohn

Tom Heinsohn is the all-time leader in NBA championship rings. He won his eight NBA championships with Bill Russell and the Boston Celtics.

He was a six-time All-Star. He won one NBA title in 1957 and seven consecutively from 1959 to 1965.

Heinsohn coached for 20 years, including five NBA championship titles with the Celtics and four more with the Los Angeles Lakers.

3. John Havlicek

John Havlicek was a 13-time All-Star and 19 combined All-NBA and All-Defensive Team selections, won six of his eight NBA titles with the Bill Russell Celtics and is one of the most decorated players in league history.

Havlicek was drafted by the team at age 22 and played until 1975—a total of 16 seasons. He retired as the ninth leading scorer in NBA history with 26,395 points.

In addition to his eight rings, Havlicek also has several other impressive accolades: He won three straight NBA championships from 1968-1970, and he had a career average of 18.8 points per game.

2. Sam Jones – 10

Sam Jones was a crucial piece of the Boston Celtics dynasty. The five-time All-Star averaged nearly 20 points in the NBA playoffs, and his #24 jersey was retired by the Celtics.

Jones won eight NBA consecutive championships from 1959 to 1966. He’s one of only three players to win eight championships (with Bill Russell and teammate Tom Heinsohn). He also won a gold medal as part of the 1960 U.S. Olympic team in Rome, which featured future Hall of Famers Jerry West and Oscar Robertson, among others.

1. Bill Russell – 11 Rings

Bill Russell is one of the greatest basketball players ever to play the game, and he has the rings to prove it.

Russell won 11 NBA championships in 13 years. He won every game seven he ever faced in the NBA, and even more impressively, he won all those games with teams that had little outside help from other All-Stars or big-name players.

The Bill Russell ring collection includes two championships with the Boston Celtics (1957-58 and 1960-61), two more with St. Louis/Atlanta Hawks (1956-57 and 1958-59), and five more with the Boston Celtics (1963-64 through 1969-70).

The NBA has been around for a long time and will only get longer. Every year, we see new players come in with new tricks and styles of play. However, some players deserve the respect of being considered among the best of all time when it comes down to it.
