Following their triumph in the FA Cup, West Ham United return to the Premier League action when they host Watford at the London Stadium on Tuesday.
West Ham needed extra time to defeat Kidderminster Harriers 2-1 on Saturday, while Roy Hodgson’s life at Vicarage Road began with a goalless draw away to Burnley.
The Hammers may have advanced to the next round, but Moyes and his side would have been less than impressed with what they witnessed for majority of the game, as a number of second team players failed to repay their manager’s faith in them.
However, victory over Kidderminster did end a two-game losing run for the Hammers, whose Champions League destiny is now out of reach as they now find themselves fifth in the Premier League table.
Now that Arsenal are also applying pressure, West Ham would need to produce another victory at the London Stadium, as they have scored at least two goals in each of their last four Premier League games at home.
Meanwhile, relegation candidates Watford and Burnley demonstrated exactly why they are battling to avoid demotion to the second division after playing out a goaless draw in tough conditions at Turf Moor.
Watford managed to record their first clean sheet in the Premier League this season at the 21st attempt, with Wout Weghorst and Maxwel Cornet unable to start exciting partnership on the right foot for Burnley.
However, the Hornets have now gone for 10 games without a victory, and they enter the midweek round of fixtures still in the relegation zone at 18th.
West Ham took a 4-1 victory at Vicarage Road during two sides’ first encounter of the season, which was the Hammers’ fourth successive victory over the London rivals, during which they have scored at least three goals in each dominant success.
