West Ham united will be looking to return to winning ways when they welcome a lowly Norwich City to London Stadium for the Premier League matchday 18 on Saturday with kickoff at 18:00.
It’s no doubt that West Ham have been among the impressive and formidable sides in the Premier League this season with the club spending most of the time in the top four and also being the only outfit to beat both Liverpool and Chelsea this season. West Ham also overcame both Man City and Man United in the League Cup.
However, the Hammers have been on the downward trajectory recently with the Londoners winning in just one of their last six Premier League fixtures, drawing two and suffering three defeats in the process. They are coming off two winless and goalless matches, drawing 0-0 against Burnley on the weekend, before falling to a 2-0 dominated Arsenal defeat in the midweek fixture.
As a result West ham have dropped to the fifth in the standings with one points behind the fourth-placed Arsenal and one point above the sixth-placed Man United who have a game in hand. Therefore, David Moyes’ side will be looking to quickly put an end to their slump as they aim at staying in touch with the top four.
Meanwhile, Dean Smith started his tenure at Norwich City in high spirits as he saw his side overcome Southampton in a 2-1 Premier League success marking their second league win. However, Smith has seen Norwich record a five-match winless run ever since, drawing two and losing three in the run.
The Canaries head into the match on the back off a three-match losing streak, two of which came at home including the 2-0 to Dean’s former club Aston Villa in the mid-week fixture. Although Dean Smith has had to cope with the numerous injury and coronavirus-related absences, something that has hindered the Canaries’ efforts to move outside the relegation zone.
