West Ham United will be looking to extend their winning streak to four matches across all competitions on the bounce when they welcome a struggling Norwich City to London Stadium for an important Premier League fixture on Wednesday night with kickoff at 22:45.
West Ham United have made an impressive campaign in the Premier League as they sit fifth with 34 points collected from 20 matches, with just one point behind the fourth placed Arsenal who face Tottenham in their next Premier League fixture. David Moyes side has also consistently punched above their weight so far this season with the club defeating both Chelsea and Liverpool in Premier League, while beating Manchester United and Manchester City in EFL Cup.
The Hammers ended 2021 on a victorious note as they run out 4-1 winners at Watford on December 28. The win ended a five-match winless run in all competitions, suffering four defeats in the run. There bounce back win also boosted their confidence heading into the New Year.
They opened 2022 on a positive note edging Crystal Palace 3-2 at home in a feisty fixture on New Year’s Eve. They followed that up with a 2-0 win over Leeds in the third round of the FA with Manuel Lanzini and Jarrod Bowen sending Marcelo Bielsa’s men parking in the capital.
Moyes’ side will therefore be looking to keep the momentum going with a victory on Saturday, as they aim at climbing above Arsenal into the Champions League places.
Meanwhile Norwich City have struggled on their return to the Premier League with the club seemingly destined to make an immediate return to the Championship. They have been rooted at the bottom of the table for most of the campaign with wins being rare to come by for the Canaries. They are still in the last spot of the table with just 10 points collected from their 19 matches, but are just three points adrift of safety.
Dean Smith’s side ended 2021 in a very low note with the club winning none of their last eight league matches with a five-match losing streak at the end. However, they opened 2022 in a positive way as managed to knockout Charlton Athletic in the third round of FA on the weekend. A 79th-minute strike from Milot Rashica booked them a place in the fourth round while ending their dreadful period.
The Canaries will therefore be looking to build on their much need win on Sunday when they face West Ham on Wednesday and they are on the brink of relegation this year and cannot afford another poor result this week.
