Both Watford and Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to bounce back when they lock horns at the Vicarage Road in their first 2022 Premier League action on Saturday the 1st evening with kickoff at 18:00.
Watford were beaming in confidence when they run rampant in the 4-1 thumping of Manchester United November 20, a win that led to Ole Solskjaer’s sacking. However, things haven’t been the same for the Hornets who have who have been struggling in the Premier League ever since.
They are coming off a 4-1 home defeat to West Ham in their midweek fixture with Claudio Ranieri’s side actually opening the scoring through Emmanuel Dennis in the fourth minute but the Hammers hit back through Thomas Soucek, Said Benrahma, Mark Noble and Nikola Vlasic, condemning Watford to their fifth consecutive Premier League defeat.
As a result the Hornets are now just a place and two points above the relegation zone and will be looking to put an end to their slump as they aim at salvaging their season back to the top-flight. They might just fancy their chances in this clash having not lost to their opponents in their last four meetings at Vicarage Road and they won 2-1 the last time Tottenham came calling.
Meanwhile Tottenham Hotspur have greatly improved under the management of serial winner Antonio Conte, with the Italian managing to move the London club back into the top-four contention.
The capital club are now unbeaten in Seven Premier League outings under the highly-rated Italian managing to book a place in the last four of the League Cup in the process.
However, despite the upward form for the visitors they’re coming off a disappointing 1-1 draw against a 10-man Southampton in their midweek fixture with Harry Kane cancelling out an opener from James Ward-Prowse.
As a result Tottenham retained their sixth spot in the rankings and are now five points behind the bitter rivals Arsenal in the fourth spot but with two matches in hand. Conte’s side will therefore, be looking to bounce back to winning ways as they aim at staying in touch with the top four.
