Vizela vs Belenenses Match Analysis and Prediction

Belenenses saw their game against Famalicao postponed due to multiple Covid-19 cases, and will be returning to action for the first time in 10 days when they play Vizela at the Estadio de FC Vizela.

Vizela failed to move into the top half of the table last time out when they were defeated by Maritimo and will aim to bounce back from that performance.

They turned in a quality performance in the Taca de Portugal as they sent reigning champions Braga parking through a 1-0 victory when they met on December 23.

However, they were not able to maintain that momentum on their return to the Primeira Liga as they fell to a disappointing 2-0 defeat against Maritimo at the Estadio do Maritimo last Tuesday.

Nuno Moreira was sent off in that game, while Joel Tagueu put the hosts ahead from the penalty spot nine minutes into the second half before Rafik Guitane secured the result with a 72nd-minute goal.

Vizela are currently sitting 13th in the Primeira Liga standings, having collected 13 points from 15 matches, level on points with Santa Clara and one point above Tondela in the relegation playoff spot.

Belenenses finished 10th last season, but have endured a miserable first half of the season as they have managed just eight points from their opening 14 games.

While they have two games in hand over most of their rivals, they find themselves stuck at the bottom of the table, four points adrift of Moreirense just outside the relegation places.

They head into Sunday’s game fresh off the back of a last-16 exit from the Taca de Portugal after losing on penalties against Rio Ave at the Estadio dos Arcos two Thursdays ago.

They now turn their attention to the Primeira Liga where they are currently on a four-game losing streak.

Vizela news

Vizela will be missing the services of Nuono Moreira, who is currently suspended through his red card in the match against Maritimo last time out.

Ivanildo Fernandes will be missing out after he picked an injury against Braga, and he is joined by Claudemir after he sustained a muscle problem against Estoril Praia.

Belenenses news

Chico Teixeira will be out of contention, as the 23-year-old midfielder is currently recovering from a severe injury he picked up back in September.

However, Candido has a full strength squad at his disposal and we expect to see an attacking trio of Alisson Safira, Alioune Ndour and Pedro Nuno.

Prediction and Odds

Both Vizela and Belenenses are heading into this match on a poor run of form, and they are both desperate for the victory.

Belenenses have lost in all their last four matches, while Vizela have won two of their last four, and we see the match ending in a draw or home win.
