Venezuela and Uruguay will both be looking to return to winning ways when they lock horns in World Cup qualifiers on Wednesday at Estadio Olimpico de la UCV with kickoff at 1:30am.
Venezuela have had a slow start to their qualifying campaign with just three points in their last five games and their diminishing chances of qualifying suffered a major blow last week on Saturday when they lost 3-1 to Bolivia at home, hence, they can’t afford to be shambolic in this one. They currently in the 9th position with three points in the qualifying table.
Uruguay on the other hand are in an average form currently having won two, drawn two and lost two matches in their last six matches and head into the match off the back of a 0-0 draw to Paraguay and a 0-2 loss to Brazil. Therefore, Uruguay will be looking to bounce back and push further up the qualifiers table as they currently stand in position 5 with seven points.
The last time these two met was 2017 and it ended in a 0-0 draw and both sides have undergone transition over the four years and will both be aiming for the three points in the Wednesday’s clash. However, it might be hard for the home team as the last time they won at home against their opponents was back in 2006.
