Venezia will desperately look to end their five-match losing streak in Serie A when they welcome Udinese to Stadio Pierluigi Penzo for their league Matchday 32 on Sunday evening with kickoff at 16:00.
Venezia were left empty-handed again in Serie A as they suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Spezia at away last Saturday. They have now failed to win in their last 14 matches across all competitions, while have lost all their last five league matches in a row and their last league win against Bologna on 21 November last year.
I Lagunari continue to sit in the 18th spot, in the relegation zone, on 22 points from 30 matches, level on points with 19th-placed Genoa while are three points adrift of safety, although they have a game in hand on Genoa and the sides above them in the standings.
They still have time to save their season and avoid an immediate return to Serie B, but will need to start picking up points if they are going to see that through. They have not lost to Udinese when playing at home and will draw confidence from that.
Udinese, meanwhile, bounced back from their 2-1 defeat to Napoli before the international break with a 5-1 thumping victory over Cagliari at home last Sunday. They have now lost just one of their last sic Serie A matches, claiming two victories and three draws in the run.
The 5-1 victory saw them overtake Empoli to the 13th spot on goal difference as they sit level on 33 points, although the Udine outfits have two games in hand on the 14th-placed Empoli, while have played at least one match less than sides above them.
They sit 10 points outside the top-half, but if they are to win their in-hand matches they would be just four points outside the top 10. Therefore, they will be looking to keep their momentum flowing as they eye a top-half finish.
Udinese claimed a comfortable 3-0 victory against Venezia in the reverse fixture and considering their recent form they should be confident of recording another positive result on Sunday.
