Venezia will looking to make it back-to-back wins in Serie A on the bounce when they welcome Genoa to Stadio Pierluigi Penzo for another crucial league fixture on Saturday evening with kickoff at 17:00.
Venezia finally gave their funs something to cheer following their impressive and hard fought 2-1 win over Torino at away last Saturday with Ridgeciano Haps and Domen Crnigoj’s goals helping their team secure the fifth victory of the season in Serie A.
The win was crucial for Venezia who had previously gone 10 matches with a victory in Serie A, picking up just three draws while suffering seven defeats in the process. The run had them drop into the relegation zone and they travelled to Turin last Saturday aim a worrying immediate return to the Serie B.
However, thanks to the win Venezia, although they still sit in the drop zone, are level on points with the 17th-placed Cagliari and have moved to three points within the 15th-placed Udinese and they still have a game in hand on fellow-relegation battling sides.
They will therefore be looking to claim another positive result on Saturday as they aim at surving the Serie A.
Meanwhile Genoa were involved in a share of the spoils in their previous Serie A outing as they played out a 1-1 draw with Salernitana at home last Sunday. They have now drawn three matches in row while have drawn in 12 league games so far this season, no side has drawn more in Serie A.
The draw also meant that Genoa have now failed to win any of their last nine games across all competition, picking up five draws while suffering four defeats in the run, including a 3-1 defeat to AC Milan in the last-16 of the Coppa Italia.
I Rossoblu currently sit second-from-bottom in the table on 15 points from 25 matches, two points above Salernitana who have two matches in hand. Genoa are six points adrift of safety and will need to turn their draws into victories if they are to survive the drop.
