Both Valerenga and Viking will be looking for the third consecutive win in the Eliteserien on the bounce when they square off at Intlity Arena in their league Matchday 15 tie on Sunday night.
Valerenga claimed a narrow 1-0 away win over Sarpsborg last weekend with Amor Layouni sealing the deal in the 30th minute in the first half. They have now won two consecutively in the league as they were previously coming off a 3-0 home victory over Kristiansund, which ended their seven-match winless run in Eliteserien.
The victories saw them climb into 12th position in the league standings, where they sit on 17 points, two places and four points above the relegation zone, showing how poor their campaign has been so far.
Therefore, Dag-Eilev Fagermo’s side will be desperate to extend their winning streak on Sunday as they seek to climb further away from the danger zone.
However they have a big fish to fry this weekend, when Viking come calling. Viking have had an impressive campaign so far and are currently in the title race as they sit third in the league standings on28 points from 16 games, five points off both Molde and Lillestrom at the summit.
They are coming off a 0-0 draw with Sparta Prague at away in the first leg of their Europa Conference League second qualifying round in the midweek. However, prior to that the Dar Blues were coming off back-to-back league victories over (2-1) and Lillestrom (0-1) and have now gone four unbeaten across all competitions.
They will be looking to extend the run on Sunday as they seek to remain close to the top two in the Eliteserien, putting more pressure on the clash.
