Valencia and Villarreal are set to start the preparations for the 2021-22 La Liga campaign when they face off in their first friendly match this Friday at the Oliva Nova Beach and Golf Resort with kickoff at 19:00.
This will the first friendly match for both sides with Valencia planning to have five friendlies before the kickoff of La Liga in mid-August whereas Villarreal have planned to have two friendlies before meeting up with Chelsea in UEFA Super Cup match on August 11th.
Valencia will head into the friendly off the back of a 0-0 draw against Huesca in a La Liga match back in May. The Bats ended the last campaign in the 13th position with 43 points and a goal difference of -3. Therefore, Jose Bordalas will aim to getting his managerial stint with club off to a strong start in Friday’s clash.
Villarreal on the other hand finished off their season in a style with their first international trophy after a 1:1 draw after extra time and an incredible 11:10 score after penalties which saw Villarreal lift the UEFA Europa League cup for the first time over Manchester United.
The Yellow Submarine finished their last La Liga campaign in the seventh position with 58 points and will aim to pick up where they left with a win in the Friday’s match.
