Updated List of Players Set to Miss Ongoing World Cup 2022

The 2022 World Cup is in full swing, and the fans are in for a real treat. After surprising results, we’ve already seen Argentina fall at the hands of Saudi Arabia and Germany, failing to turn up against Japan.

Unfortunately, there has been a plague of injuries disrupting their starting XI for most teams. We take a look at some of the latest injury news coming from the World Cup 2022 in Qatar:

Neymar – Brazil

Neymar is set to miss Brazil’s next group stages of the World Cup 2022 in Qatar after suffering an ankle injury in their second-half clash with Serbia.

The PSG star was visibly devastated as he hobbled off the pitch, and his injury is a big blow for Tite, who will now have to find a way to replace the 30-year-old.

But he has plenty of options, including Gabriel Martinelli, who comes on in the dying minutes of their last game.

Theo Hernandez – France

Lucas Hernandez is the latest player to be ruled out of the World Cup. The French defender was forced to leave the pitch in tears after picking up an ankle injury against Australia.

Hernandez had been in fine form for Les Bleus, who lead Group D with three points, two ahead of Tunisia and Denmark, who played out a goalless draw on Tuesday.

The French defender limped off the pitch after a nasty tackle from Matthew Leckie and was replaced by his brother Lucas Hernandez.

Joaquin Correa – Argentina

Joaquin Correa will not be included in the Argentine national team squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The Inter forward had been included in Argentina’s provisional 26-player squad for the upcoming World Cup but was subsequently ruled out due to an injury to his Achilles tendon.

Correa is set to undergo surgery this week and is expected to be sidelined for around three months.

Enner Valencia – Ecuador

Ecuador is sweating on the fitness of star striker and captain Enner Valencia after being carried off on a stretcher late in the 1-1 Group A draw against the Netherlands.

Subsequent media reports suggested Valencia would be fit to face Senegal on Tuesday in Ecuador’s Group A finale, where a point will be enough to take them into the Round of 16 for the second time after 2006.

Ecuador coach Gustavo Quinteros had already said he feared Valencia would miss their final group match due to an apparent ankle injury sustained against the Netherlands.

Danilo – Brazil

The Brazilian right-back picked up his ankle problem in the closing stages of Thursday’s win and was seen hobbling off the pitch at full-time.

Danilo has a medial ligament injury to his left ankle, which is expected to keep him out for up to two weeks.

The most likely candidate to replace the Juventus right-back is 39-year-old Dani Alves. Alves has been called up by Tite but has yet to play in any matches during that time.
