Udinese vs Salernitana Match Analysis and Prediction

Salernitana will desperately look to make it back-to-back victories in Serie A on the bounce when they travel to Stadio Friuli to take on an in-form Udinese in their postponed Matchday 19 tie on Wednesday night with kickoff at 19:45.

Udinese extended their winning streak to three matches in Serie A on the bounce last time out as they claimed an emphatic 4-1 victory over Empoli at home last Saturday. They were previously coming of 2-1 win over Venezia at away on April 10 and a strong 5-1 win against Cagliari at home earlier this month.

They have now lost just one of their last eight Serie A matches, claiming four victories and three draws in the run that has seen them climb into 12^th spot in the standings with six points outside the top half and at least one match in hand on the sides above them in the table.

Having avoided a relegation battle, which seemed certain to be their fate just a few months ago, Gabriele Cioffi’s side are in contention to finish in the top half and having games in hand on several of the mid-table sides, Udinese will fancy their chances of a clinching a top-10 finish.

Meanwhile Salernitana have endured a difficult campaign back to the top-tier with the side claiming just four victories from their 31 matches and are just hanging on as they sit at the bottom of the table with nine points adrift of safety.

However, Salernitana still have time to salvage their season as there still remains five matches to the end of the season and Davide Nicola’s side has three matches in hand on the 17^th-placed Cagliari, while have played at least one match less than their fellow relegation-threatened outfits, Genoa and Venezia who sit three points above the Granata.

That means that a win for the Granata on Wednesday will see them get level on 22 points with Genoa and Venezia with still two games in hand. Therefore they will desperately be looking to claim another victory on Wednesday following a crucial 2-1 victory over Sampdoria last Saturday at away. It was their was their first victory since January but helped them retain their slim hopes of a great escape and will be looking to build on it.
