UC Dublin will still be looking for their second Premier Division victory this season when they take on Derry City at the UCD Bowl on Friday night with kickoff at 21:45 EAT.
UC Dublin have had a rough time back in the Irish top flight with the side managing to claim just one victory from their 19 matches so far this season, while have picked six draws and suffered 12 defeats in the process.
The Students now sit at the bottom of the league standings with nine points, some 12 points adrift of safety. Their main goal this season is to avoid relegation, but they need to start picking up points if there are to salvage top flight status.
They head into the match in a poor form having suffered three defeats and picked one draw form their last four leagues matches and are off a 2-1 defeat to St Patrick’s last week Friday. They will therefore be looking to bounce back to winning ways on Friday, although they are coming up against Derry City a side they have not beaten in their last seven meetings, suffering six defeats in the run.
Derry City had a fine start to the Premier Division this season with the club going unbeaten in their opening nine matches, claiming seven wins and two draws in the run. However, they have slumped in the recent weeks with the club failing to win any of their last seven league matches, picking up four draws and three defeats in the run.
The run has seen City drop into the third spot in the league standings, where they sit on 34 points some eight points behind the leaders, Shamrock Rovers. Derry will be looking to get their campaign back on the track as they seek their third league title.
Having already beaten UCD twice this season with a 9-1 goal difference, Derry City should be confident of getting the better of their hosts this Friday.
