Turkey will get their 2022-23 UEFA nations League campaign underway when they host Faroe Island at the Basaksehir Fatih Terim Stadium on Saturday night with kickoff at 21:45.
The two were drawn in Group 1 of League C alongside Lithuania and Luxembourg, making it a fairly open group. However, Turkey will fancy their chances of returning of returning to League B having been relegated last season, after finish last in Group B3.
Turkey head into their Nation League opening fixture off two defeats against Portugal (3-1) in World Cup qualifiers and against Italy (3-2) in an international friendly encounter, and they will be looking bounce back here. A match against Faroe Islands is what they would have wished for their opening fixture of competition.
Faroe Island managed to earn a promotion to League C, after finishing top of Group D1 last season ahead of Malta, Latvia and Andorra. They will now be looking to continue to the next level although they will need a miracle for that.
They certainly though can do better to remain in this level, which is pretty much their target this season. they open against the group’s favorites they will need to be at their absolute best to get something out of the clash on Saturday.
They are coming off a confidence boosting 1-0 win over Liechtenstein and they will hope to replicate the result in the Saturday encounter.
