Both Tottenham Hotspur and Wolverhampton Wanderers will be looking to bounce back to winning ways when they lock horns at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in an important Premier League fixture on Sunday evening with kickoff at 17:00.
There is no doubt that Tottenham have been playing much better under Antonio Conte, but things have not been in the right place Conte’s side recently as they have been inconsistent in their last five matches claiming two wins while suffering three defeats in the process.
Their inconsistency continued in their midweek league fixture when they suffered a 3-2 defeat to Southampton in a match where their defensive vulnerability was at fore as they relinquished the lead twice to end up on the wrong side of the five-goal thriller.
However, Spurs are very much still in the top-four race as they sit in the seventh with three points behind both Arsenal and Manchester United and are now three games and four points behind fourth-placed West Ham. They will therefore be keen to bounce back to winning ways in the Sunday’s clash as a win will be crucial for them in the table for a top four berth.
Meanwhile Wolverhampton failed to beat 10-men Arsenal in the midweek as they fell to a 1-0 defeat, in a match that was overshadowed by one of the most bizarre red cards that the Premier League has ever seen.
The defeat saw their struggle for consistency in the recent weeks extended and have now lost their last two matches across all competitions and this has been due to their luck cutting-edge attacks and failed to create chances, evidenced in midweek defeat where they finished with just two attempts on target.
However, there is no denying that Wolves have been playing their best football under Bruno Lage and they are also in the mix for European finish as they sit one place and two points behind Tottenham Hotspur, meaning that win on Sunday will leave them on top of their opponents while moving them closer to the top-four.
They have also been strong on their travels having only suffered two defeats from their last 10 away matches in the Premier League, claiming six wins including the 1-0 victory at Manchester United.
