After suffering their first defeat of the season in midweek, Torino will be looking to bounce back straight away as the play host to promoted Lecce on Monday.
While the hosts had won three of their first four league and cup matches to start the 2022-23 campaign, Lecce are yet to taste victory since earning promotion back to the top flight.
Having progressed to the second round of the Coppa Italia, then picked up seven points from their opening three league matches, Torino made a trip to Bergamo on Thursday expecting to continue such fine form.
However, a hat-trick from Teun Koopmeiners, with two of the Dutchman’s goals coming from the penalty spot, condemned II Toro to a 3-1 defeat to Atalanta at the Gewiss Stadium.
Though the Granata have already held Lazio to a goalless draw this season, some would argue that the fixture list has been kind to them in the opening weeks, as their wins so far have come against newly-promoted pair of Monza and Cremonese, beating both sides away from home by a 2-1 scoreline.
While they have moved between the top two tiers of Calcio in recent years, Lecce have generally enjoyed their meetings with Monday’s opponents in Serie A, going unbeaten in seven of the last eight encounters between the clubs.
Marco Baroni’s side won the last two top-flight matches against Torino before their most recent relegation, with a 4-0 victory at Via del Mare following their 2-1 win at Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino.
Lecce crashed out of the Coppa Italia to Cittadella at the beginning of last month, and were beaten in their first two league matches, but goals from Gabriel Strefezza against Empoli and then a Lorenzo Colombo strike versus Napoli have since secure consecutive 1-1 draws for last season’s Serie B champions.

Torino news
While Wilfried Singo remains a doubt with a tendon problem that made him miss at Bergamo, Juric must choose between Ola Aina, Mergim Vojvoda and Valentino Lazaro and newcomer Brian Bayeye to occupy either flank.
Summer arrivals Nikola Vlasic and Nemanja Radonjic have already impressed and should start again on Monday.
Lecce news
Lecce may be ready to give Samuel Umtiti his Serie A debut, but most likely from the bench, with Marin Pongracic expected to return from a knock to feature in the back four.
Defenders Kastriot Dermaku and Mert Cetin are still struggling with injuries, and Gabriel Strefezza is also a concern.
Prediction and Odds
Under head coach Juric, Torino rarely give away goals easily, so Lecce are likely to find it difficult to break down their hosts.
With some of their new signings settling nicely in the squad, the hosts can claim three more points at Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino and extend their positive start to the season.
