Both Torino and Cagliari will be looking to bounce back to winning ways when they lock horns at Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino in an important Serie A matchday 27 encounter on Sunday afternoon with kickoff at 14:35.
Both sides are coming off impressive and resilient draws in their previous Serie A outings with Torino holding Juventus to a 1-1 draw in last week’s Friday Turin Derby at away with Andrea Belotti’s 62nd-minute goal cancelling out Matthijs De Ligt early goal, while Cagliari also did well to hold Scudetto-chasers Napoli to a 1-1 draw at home last Monday night with Victor Osimhen’s 87th-minute goal for Napoli cancelling out Gaston Pereiro’s 58th-minute goal for the hosts.
However, Torino have now failed to win in their last four matches picking up two draws and two defeat in the run, which has seen them drop into the 10th in the standings level on 33 points with the 11th-placed Sassuolo and just two above the 13th-placed Empoli, although they still have a match in hand on several of the sides around them.
As for Cagliari, they have now recorded back-to-back draws in Serie A, while have won one and drawn three of their last four league matches – a run that has seen them move into 18th in the relegation zone but level on points with the 17th-placed Venezia, meaning a draw could see them climb out of the drop zone if Venezia are to lose in their match. Although Venezia still have a match in hand on Walter Mazzarri’s men.
This will be a close match with both looking to return to winning ways as Torino aim to stay in the top-half while Cagliari aim to salvage their campaign, but we will not be surprised to see another draw in the Serie A or against the two, having drawn in four of their last seven encounters and drew 1-1 in the reverse fixture earlier in the season.
