Tite – Brazil

Tite, the Brazilian head coach, has left his role after the FIFA World Cup quarterfinal exit at the hands of Croatia.

The 61-year-old took over in 2016 and won the Copa America in 2019. His loss marked two consecutive quarterfinal exits from World Cup.

In a post-match conference, Tite said it was “the End of the Cycle.” Neymar’s goal in the 105th minute could not save Brazil from penalties when Croatia went through to the semifinals on penalties.

Luis Enrique – Spain

Luis Enrique is the latest coach to be sacked after the World Cup in Qatar. The former Spanish manager led his team to a silver medal in the 2020 Tokyo Games but failed to lead them to another victory at this year’s World Cup.

As we all know, Spain was eliminated from the competition by Morocco in the Round of 16. The game fell to penalties, and Morocco shocked the world by eliminating Spain from the competition.

It marked Luis Enrique’s exit from this year’s World Cup and meant that he would not be leading his team into next year’s 2020 European Championships.

Gerardo Tata Martino – Mexico

Gerardo Tata Martino was the head coach of Mexico before their World Cup exit in Qatar. He was fired after a goalless draw to Poland and a 2-0 loss to Argentina in their first two matches.

Martino took full responsibility for the defeat. He said he did not have enough time to get his team ready for the tournament and would take full responsibility for the failure.

Martino was appointed as head coach of Mexico in 2019 with the main task of breaking Mexico’s knockout stage jinx.

Otto Oddo – Ghana

Ghana’s exit from the World Cup was a bitter pill to swallow for the Black Stars, who had qualified for the tournament after a long, arduous journey. But now that they’re out, it’s time to look back on all of the coaches who were fired or resigned after their defeat.

Otto Oddo is a legend in Ghana, having played for the Black Stars in their first World Cup appearance in 2006. He joined the Black Stars following their exit from AFCON and subsequent World Cup qualification, leading them to the knockout stages of this year’s tournament.

It was an emotional end to an otherwise successful campaign, as Ghana failed to make it past Uruguay in the Round of 16 after losing 2-0.
