Leeds United Football Club is an English professional football club based in Leeds, West Yorkshire. The club was founded in 1919 and played their home games at Elland Road. The team currently competes in the English football top flight, the English Premier League, after promotion from the EFL Championship (the English football second tier) during the 2019/2020 season.
Ownership
Italian businessman Andrea Radrizzani became the chairman and co-owner of Leeds in January 2017. He Controls a 56-percent stake in the club; initially, he bought 50% of the share capital in January 2017 and later announced the 100% buyout of Leeds United, purchasing the remaining 50% shares from the previous co-owner Massimo Cellino.
Stadium
Leeds United uses only one stadium as their home ground, Elland Road, where they have played since their foundation in 1919. Elland Road Stadium is an all-seater football stadium in Beeston, Leeds-West Yorkshire, England. It is the 14th largest football stadium in England. The stadium was previously occupied by Leeds City, their predecessors-before their disbandment. Leeds United bought the stadium in October 2004, with a 25-year sale-leaseback deal agreed, and a commercial buy-back clause also included for when the club's finances improve sufficiently.
Colors, badge, and kit sponsorship
Leeds plays in all-white kits at home matches. However, there are hints that; Adidas Leeds United 2021-2022 shirt introduces a similarly clean design to this season's but changes the accent colors from blue and gold to navy and yellow.
Leeds United's first badge appeared in 1934- Like Leeds City before them, the club adopted the Coat of arms of Leeds, which remained on the kit in various guises until 1961.
Betting Company SBOTOP signed a Principal Sponsorship deal with United in August 2020 in what was considered the largest commercial deal in the club's history, making SBOTOP the front-of-shirt sponsor on the team's match day kits; however, there ore there are other sponsors like TransUnion and Adidas.
Fans and rivalries
Leeds is 10th in the all-time average attendance figures for the Football League and Premier League. They have the third most rivalries in the English League. Manchester United is considered to be Leeds' main rivals; however, they have a large fan base worldwide. The rivalry has been described as one the fiercest in world football and the most intense in England.
Club honors
Leeds United has won three English league titles, one FA Cup, one League Cup, two Charity/Community Shields, and two Inter-Cities Fairs Cups. Most of the honors were won under the management of Don Revie in the 1960s and 1970s. The club reached the 1975 European Cup Final, losing to Bayern Munich; Leeds reached the semi-finals of the tournament's successor, the Champions League, in 2001. Leeds was also runners-up in the European Cup Winners Cup final in 1973. Their most recent honor was winning the league title in 1992.
