Fulham Football Club is an English professional football club based in Fulham, London. The club currently competes in the Premier League, the top tier of the English league system, after earning a promotion during the 2021/22 season as the EFL Championship winners.
Fulham was founded in 1879, making them the oldest London-based football club playing professionally. They have played 27 seasons in English football’s top division, the majority of which have come in two periods during the 1960s and 2000s.
The club also consists of a club academy that is made of under23 players that play in the Premier League 2 Division 1 and a women’s team that competes in the London and South East Women’s Regional Football League.
Ownership
The club is owned by Shahid Khan, who completed his purchase of the club from Mohamed Al-Fayed in July 2013 for a reported £150–200 million. He has seen his club play in the Premier League twice since taking over in 2013, and 2022/23 makes it the third season.
Stadium
Fulham’s home stadium is the Craven Cottage, located in West London, and they have played their home matches there since 1896. The stadium’s capacity is 22 384, and the record attendance is 49,335 for a clash against Millwall in 1938.
Colors, badge, and kit sponsorship
Fulham adopted the white and black colors as their primary colors, which have been used since the 1903 season. Their away colors have continually changed over the years per season.
The club’s crest has also changed over the years, with the recent badge being the number 10, and was introduced in 200l. The design is a shield with black and white colors, and the club’s initials FFC wrote at the center of the shield facing down.
Kit manufacturers and sponsors have changed over the years to the current ones being Adidas, as the manufactures since 2013, and W88 as the kit sponsors since 2022.
Fans and rivalries
Chelsea is considered to be the main rival to Fulham by the fans. Chelsea is just 1.8 miles from Craven Cottage, and the two always pitch a good rivalry in the local derby. Fulham also enjoys rivalry with other London clubs, including Queens Park Rangers, Brentford, and Crystal Palace.
Club honors
Fulham has been able to claim several honors, including wins and runners-up placing in significant footballing competitions. They are three-time winners of the Championship and two times winners of the Championship Play-off, while they have finished runners-up once in the second, third, and fourth tiers.
They have also won the third-tier title twice and are once winners of the Intertoto Cup, while they have finished as runners-up once in the FA Cup and the Europa League.
