Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth Match Analysis & Prediction
06/12/2023 10:30 pm
A bottom-half Premier League match takes place at Selhurst Park on Wednesday night as Crystal Palace play host to AFC Bournemouth.
While the Eagles are currently 12th in the top-flight standings with 16 points from 14 matches, the Cherries find themselves three points and four places worse off in 16th position.
After collecting 11 points from their opening seven Premier League matches, beating Sheffield United, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Manchester United in the process, Palace has since suffered a dip in form and have picked up just five points from their last seven games.
However, they avoided a third successive defeat when the salvaged a point in a 1-1 draw at West Ham United last weekend, with Odsonne Edouard scoring his seventh goal of the season to cancel out an early opener from Mohammed Kudus.
Roy Hodgson’s side are preparing for a return to Selhurst Park where they have won just four of their 18 matches in 2023, claiming a maximum in just one of their first six home league games this season.
The Eagles have also come out on top in just one of their previous 15 top-flight matches played on a Wednesday, which does not bode well ahead of their latest encounter with Bournemouth.
After picking up maximum points in successive Premier League matches against Newcastle United and Sheffield Uniter either side of the international break, Bournemouth were seemingly on course to secure their third consecutive victory as they entered the closing stages of last weekend’s encounter with Aston Villa.
Antoine Semenyo initially had his opener cancelled out by Leon Bailey before Dominic Solanke put the Cherries back ahead shortly after halftime, but the hosts were eventually forced to settle for just a point as Ollie Watkins netted a 90th-minute equaliser to rescue a 2-2 draw for Villa at the Vitality Stadium.
Three of Bournemouth’s next four matches are away from home and Andoni Iraola will be keen to see improvements made by his side on the road, as they have picked up the joint-second fewest away points (four) in the division so far this season, while only bottom-placed Sheffield United (20) have conceded more goals on their travels than the Cherries (18).
Crystal Palace vs. AFC Bournemouth Head to head
