Portugal will be looking to extend their Group A2 lead when visit Stade de Geneve to take on the group’s whipping boys Switzerland in their fourth round of the on-going 2022-23 UEFA Nations League Campaign on Sunday night.
Switzerland have made a disappoint UEFA Nations League campaign with the side currently rooted at the bottom of Group A2 on zero points having lost all their opening three games. They have now lost four of their last five matches across all competitions, drawing once in the run.
They now need to bounce back to winning ways to stand a chance of surviving League A. However they are up against group leaders Portugal, who they have fallen to in their last three encounters including the 4-0 in their second group match last Sunday.
Portugal followed that up with a 2-0 home win over Czech Republic on Thursday, with Goncalo Guedes and Joao Cancelo sealing the deal for the La Roja. They now lead the group on seven points a point above Spain, who they drew 1-1 on the opening day.
Manuel Fernandes’ side will now be looking to extend their group lead with another positive result on Sunday, although they have failed to win in Switzerland in their last three visits and will need to be on top of their game to get the better of their hosts.
