Sweden Women will be looking to claim their first win of the Women’s Euro 2022 when they take on Swtzerland Women at Bramall Lane on Wednesday.

Switzerland will also be seeking to pick up three points for the first time in the tournament after playing out a 2-2 draw with Portugal in their opening match.

Sweden kicked off their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Netherlands on Saturday, although they would have been disappointed to miss out on three points after taking the lead.

The highest-ranked team at the European Championship will now turn their focus to their remaining group fixtures against Switzerland and Portugal.

All the four countries in the group are currently on one point, and Sweden know that a victory on Wednesday will move them closer to the quarter-finals, with Peter Gerhardsson’s side looking to continue their 100% record of making the knockout stages at the European Championships.

On the other hand, Switzerland will be looking to defy the odds on Wednesday when they take on a Sweden side who are ranked in second place in the FIFA World Rankings.

Like their opponents, Switzerland also played out a draw on matchday one after they squandered a two-goal lead against Portugal.

Nils Nielsen’s side raced out of the blocks, with Coumba Sow and Rahel Kiwic scoring a goal apiece in the opening five minutes to give their country control of the contest.

However, Diana Gomes pulled back after half time before Jessica Silva level the scores in the 65th minute, ensuring that the encounter ended all square.

If Switzerland are to reach the knockout stages of the European Championship for the first time in their history, then they will have to put an end to a seven-game winless streak, with Nielsen’s side waiting for their first victory in 2022.
