Celtic will be looking to keep their top-spot in the Premiership standings when they travel to their least favorite venue, the Tony Macaroni Arena, to take on an in-form Livingston in their matchday 30 fixture on Sunday afternoon with kickoff at 15:00.
Livingston continued their resurgence in the league last time out as they claimed a 2-1 victory against Dundee United in the midweek, with Scott Pittman canceling Liam Smith’s early goal, before Ryan Edwards turned on his own goal to give Livingston the three points.
Livingston have now gone unbeaten in their last five Premiership matches while have lost just two in their last nine in the league, claiming five victories and two draws in the run. The upturn in results has seen David Martindale’s side climb into fourth with now two points above the bottom half.
The Lions will therefore be looking to continue their battle for a top-half finish as they take on the league leaders on Sunday. They will draw confidence from their fine home form against Celtic having gone unbeaten in their last five encounters with the Hoops at Tony Macaroni Arena and the last time they met here Livingston claimed a hard-fought 1-0 victory.
Meanwhile Celtic have had disappointments in the European football with the club send packing by Bodo/Glimt in the knockout playoffs of the Europa Conference League after falling to them in both legs.
However, the Hoops did not let that affect their dominance in the Scottish Premiership as they are coming off a comfortable 2-0 win against St Mirren. They have now gone unbeaten in the Premiership since suffering a 1-0 to Livingston on Sept 19 last year.
The win again St Mirren saw them increase their lead in the Premiership standings to three points now and they will be looking to extend their dominance in the league as they aim at returning to their former glory in the Scottish football.
Livingston are the last side to have taken three points off Celtic away from Celtic Park and as mentions earlier the Hoops have failed to win at Macaron Arena in their last five visits. They will be determined to change that as they look to take another step towards the title.
