Spezia vs Lazio Match Analysis and Prediction

Both Spezia and Lazio will be looking to return to winning ways when they lock horns at Stadio Alberto Picco in their Serie A Matchday 35 tie on Saturday night with kickoff at 21:45 EAT.

Spezia head into the match on the back of a 2-1 away defeat to Ivan Juric’s Torino in Serie A last Saturday. A brace from Sasa Lukic sealed the deal for Juric’s side, while Rey Manaj’s effort proved to be only a consolation for Thiago Motta’s side.

Spezia have now failed to win in four of their last five league matches, and are coming off back-to-back defeats. They will not be worried about being dragged into the relegation scrap for now as they sit some eight points above the bottom three, but with four matches remaining to go they need a win to seal their top tier status for next season.

They will therefore head into the match all guns blazing for the points, but they face Lazio a side they haven’t beaten in their last three Serie A meetings. It will take some effort for Spezia to claim all three points here as Lazio are desperate for three points especially after their last weekend defeat.

Maurizio Sarri side were beaten by league leaders AC Milan last Sunday, with Olivier Giroud and Sandro Tonali sealing the deal for Milan, while Ciro Immobile’s effort was only enough for a consolation. They have now failed to win their last two league matches as they were previously coming off a 1-1 draw with Torino.

However, the Biancocelesti still hold the last Europa League spot in the standings thanks to the shortcomings of their rivals Fiorentina and Atalanta, who lost to Udinese and drew with Torino last weekend respectively.

Lazio, though, are just above Fiorentina on goal difference as both sides sit on 56 points, and are just a point above Atalanta. Therefore another slip-up this weekend could cost them their European spot, but facing Spezia could what they need as they will fancy their chances of taking three points here.

Lazio have won all their last three Serie A meetings against Spezia including the 6-1 at home in the reverse fixture earlier this season. Also, considering Spezia recent form, this should be a routine win for Sarri’s men.
