Struggling Spezia host Genoa in the Stadio Alberto Picco stadium this Tuesday October 26th and the 2021/22 Serie A campaign hasn’t started very well for either. Both teams sit at the wrong end of the Serie A standings, in the bottom four separated by a single point.
Spezia failed to build on their earlier comeback in the fixture against the bottom team, newly promoted Salernitana, when they were thrashed in 2-1 defeat in the previous Friday’s fixture against Sampdoria at Stadio Luigi Ferraris.

Motta’s managerial experience in Serie A came during a brief spell at Spezia’s next opponents Genoa, in the winter of 2019 where he oversaw just two wins from his ten games before being fired. Motta will be in pressure to record a first top-flight victory over the Grifone, following two defeats last term.
Davide Ballardini replaced Motta as the head coach in Genoa and he finds himself in a tougher situation struggling in the relegation zone at position 19 with only 6 points. Genoa arrives to this match from losing against Torino in the match ended 3-2 and the boss admitted that defensive deficiencies must be resolved if Genoa are to improve.
Genoa seek their first win since the middle of September but have already conceded more than 20 goals this term – undermining the excellent work of top scorer Mattia Destro at the other end of the pitch and was on target for the sixth time this season.
