Spain vs Sweden Match Analysis and Prediction

European football giants and three-time winners Spain will be looking to make a perfect start to their Euro 2020 campaign when they lock horns with Sweden on Monday at Estadio de la Cartuja in Seville with kickoff at 22:00.

Spain will be looking to win their fourth European Championship this summer, which would make them the most successful side in the history of the competition. However, the La Roja have had problems with their squad as captain Sergio Busquets and defender Diego Llorente tested positive of Covid-19 in quick succession forcing Luis Enrique to start their under-21s in their secondly friendly fixture with Lithuania as their first team was in quarantine. The under-21s displayed an excellent performance winning 4-0.

Sergio Busquets is likely not to feature in this match as there are reports that he has in fact left the training camp due to Covid-19. However, most of the squad tested negative and Luis Enrique will have most of his key men available for their kickoff fixture.

In the mean time the La Roja have been in a good form as they have not lost in their last seven games as well as they have not lost in their last 12 home matches and will want to continue the same in the Monday’s fixtures.

Sweden on the other hand will aim to make it out of the group stage for the first time since Euro 2004, when they advance to the quarter finals. They have now been present in each of their last six tournaments but they were eliminated in the group stages in the last three successive tournaments and will be determined to push further during this campaign.

The swedes have been in good form as they head into the match off the back seven-match winning streak including the 2-0 win over Finland and 3-1 win over Armenia in the international friendlies. Given their current form and Spain having their warm-up disrupted by Covid-19 the buggies predict that the swedes are going to cause problems for the La Roja side.
