Southampton will be looking to extend their unbeaten run across all competitions when they welcome relegation-threatened Norwich City to St Mary’s Stadium for 27th round of the Premier League on Friday night with kickoff at 23:00.
Southampton have been some exciting football of late and Ralph Hassenhuttl seems to be on the course to restore them to their status as dark horses for the top-four. They have been in a fine recently having not lost in their last five matches across all competitions, holding Manchester United to Manchester City to 1-1 draws while overcoming Tottenham 3-2 and Everton 2-0 in the Premier League in the run.
As result the Saints have risen into the middle of the table with 32 points collected from their 25 matches and are 14 points behind the fourth-placed Man United with a game in hand. They will therefore be looking to continue climbing further up the table as they aim at claiming back-to-back home wins in the league for the first time this season when Norwich come calling this weekend.
Meanwhile have been shown signs of life since Dean Smith was appointed with the manager seeing them out of the relegation at some points, however back-to-back defeat to Premier League’s top two sides in the previous two matches has seen them drop to the foot of the table once again.
Up until then the Canaries were in a good form, going unbeaten in three successive league matches, claiming wins against Everton and Watford while drawing with Crystal Palace.
They are now five points adrift of safety and will looking to bounce back to winning ways as they aim at salvaging their season, and they draw confidence from their 2-1 victory against the saints in the reverse fixture earlier in the campaign.
