Manchester City will be looking to increase their grip on Premier League when their ride out to St Mary’s to take on Southampton in an important Premier League fixture in Saturday’s final league action with kickoff at 20:30.
Manchester City have been a side to beat this season with the side suffering just two defeats in their 22 league matches, while picking up 18 victories and two draws in the process to collect 56 points which have left them at the summit of the standings.
They have been blowing hot recently and head into the match on the back of a crucial 1-0 win against the third-placed Chelsea, with the magic man Kevin de Bruyne getting the goal for Pep Guardiola’s machine.
The victory moved them one step closer to defending their title as it powered them 11 points clear at the summit of the standings and it saw them extend their winning streak to 12 matches now in the top-flight, and will be looking to keep the sky blue juggernaut rolling as they storm towards what would be a fourth title in the last five seasons.
Meanwhile Southampton have been blowing hot and cold this season with the club recording five wins, nine draws and seven defeats from their 21 league matches to collect 24 points, which have left them sitting in the 12th spot with five points behind the ninth-placed Brighton.
Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side is coming off a 3-1 defeat to Wolves in their previous league outing at away last Saturday. The defeat saw their five-match unbeaten run across all competitions brought to an abrupt end and although they will be looking to bounce back to winning ways, their chances are slim as they face a daunting task on Saturday against an in-form City.
