Leicester City don’t have long until they are again back in action as midweek Premier League will see them travel to meet Southampton, who are looking to bounce back from a terrible 4-0 defeat to Liverpool, at St. Mary’s Stadium.
Southampton have not played in front of their home crowd since Premier League action resumed this month and will welcome Leicester here from a poor finish last time out. Ralph Hasenhuttl witnessed his side get down from the second minute with Diogo Jota getting the net for the Reds at Anfield. Thiago Alcantara and Virgil van Dijk added goals.
Southampton were on a fine unbeaten run in the league before the international break but have since after then not been able to pick from where they left and have received two humbling defeats on the road and are now placed in the 15th place in the premier league standings with 14 points.
Southampton have taken a respectable seven points from the last nine on offer at St Mary’s and have managed to keep clean sheets in wins over Burnley and Aston Villa.
Leicester city on the other hand had a poor start to the campaign and are currently placed tenth in the table with 18 points and need a surplus of five points to climb to the fourth spot but are only two points separate from sixth-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers.
City won their second game in three days on Sunday as goals from James Maddison, Jamie Vardy and Lookman gave Brendan Rodgers ’ side a 4-2 win over Watford. Emmanuel Dennis and Joshua King added consolations for the Hornets.
Brendan Rodgers sees this as a stepping stone for better things to come. Coming to this match the Foxes are without a clean sheet in the Premier League since the beginning of the campaign.
