Shelbourne will attempt to bounce back to winning ways in the Ireland Premier Division when they welcome a high-flying Dundalk to Shelbourne Football Club Stadium in a highly anticipated encounter on Friday night.
Shelbourne have done well on their return to the Ireland Premier Division with the side claiming 24 points from their 19 games, and they sit two places and 13 points above the bottom two.
However, they have slipped recently as they head into the Friday’s clash on back of two consecutive defeats to Shamrock Rovers and Bohemians. The defeats have seen Shelbourne drop to their current spot in the league standings and they will now be looking to end the slump as they seek to get their campaign back on track.
Having won all their last three home fixtures in the league, the Reds should be confident heading in the tie. But, they have a bug fish to fry on Friday and will need to be at their best to get anything out of the clash.
Dundalk have made a strong campaign in the Premier Division this season and they currently sit second on 37 points from 19 matches, five points behind Shamrock Rovers at the summit, although Dundalk have played one match less.
They will hoping to reduce the gap on Friday and having won all their last five league matches, the Lilywhites should be confident of overcoming Shelbourne on Friday. They are even coming off a huge confidence booster, as they beat the league leaders 1-0 in their last match.
But with Shelbourne being a tough nut to crack at home Dundalk will also need to be at their best to claim their sixth consecutive victory in the division.
