Sheffield Wednesday will look to maintain their playoff spot in League One when they welcome already relegated Crew Alexandra to Hillsborough for their Matchday 44 clash on Tuesday night with kickoff at 21:45.
Sheffield Wednesday continued their impressive campaign in League One last time out as they a 3-2 victory over direct promotion chasers MK Dons at away last Saturday. They have now gone unbeaten in their last seven league matches, claiming four victories and three draws in the run that has seen them climb into fifth spot in the standings.
However, they are level on 76 points with sixth-paced Wycombe and seventh-placed Sunderland who are both flying high at the moment. Therefore a slip-up for Wednesday could leave them in seventh spot, outside the playoffs, which something they will give their all to avoid.
Wednesday have claimed four victories from their last five meetings with Crew, including the 2-0 win in the reverse fixture earlier this season and thus should be confident of completing a double on Tuesday as hope to retain their playoffs spot.
Meanwhile Crewe Alexandra have made a minimal campaign in League One this season with the side managing to claim only 28 points from their 43 matches, and they currently sit at the bottom of the standings with 11 points adrift of safety with just three matches remaining.
That means that Crewe are already relegated and will only be looking to end the campaign strongly as they prepare for their fourth-tier football next season.
They come into the match in a good mood though, having claimed a 3-1 home win against relegation-threatened Wimbledon last weekend. The victory saw them end their eight-match losing streak and they will want to build on the victory as look to cause an upset to their hosts.
