Shandong Taishan will be looking to claim consecutive victories when they play host to Changchun Yatai at the Jinan Olympic Sports Centre Stadium.
Meanwhile, the visitors will be aiming to maintain their unbeaten record when they go head-to-head with Shandong on Thursday, with the hosts sitting a point clear of their opponents after winning two of their opening three matches.
Despite defeating Zhejiang Professional on the opening day, Shandong’s first away trip of the season resulted in a 4-1 defeat against Henan Songshan Longmen.
However, they presented a positive response after a Marouane Fellaini winner guided his side to a 1-0 win over Guangzhou City to secure their first away victory of the season.
Their second win of the campaign also coincided with their second clean sheet, and they will be aiming to produce another fine defensive display on Thursday.
Shandong will also draw inspiration from the fact that their last three home encounters with Changchun have all resulted in victories.
On the other hand, Changchun sit a place behind their hosts despite enjoying a three-game unbeaten run to begin the season.
They began their campaign in style, with a Tan Long hat-trick helping Changchun beat Guangzhou City 4-1 on the opening day of the season.
Although no victories have followed, Chengchun played out back-to-back draws to ensure they are yet to end up on the losing side this season.
Their most recent draw came against Dalian Pro on Sunday, with Erik equalising in the second half to cancel out Shang Yin’s opener.
That followed a goalless draw with Zhejiang Professional at the Wuyuan River Stadium Field 2 on June 7.
With their only win of the campaign coming at home, Chen Yang’s side will be looking to clinch their first away victory when they take on Shandong on Thursday.
