Real Madrid will try to stay atop the La Liga table on Sunday night when they travel to Seville to play against Sevilla, kickoff at 10 pm.
On Feb. 12, Sevilla was hunting for the La Liga title, but a four-game winless streak between March 4 and April 3 effectively ended their chances of winning the crown.
Although Julen Lopetegui’s side picked up a huge 4-2 victory over Granada last Friday, Rafa Mir and Alejandro Gomez came off the bench to score in stoppage time — a defeat for Atletico Madrid meant Sevilla dropped from second to third in the table, on 60 points.
Sevilla is four points ahead of fifth-placed Real Betis and five points clear of Real Sociedad, so there is certainly pressure on Los Nervionenses to continue racking up victories if they want to nail down one of the top spots.
Real Madrid lost 3-2 to Chelsea in the second leg of their Champions League quarterfinal on Tuesday evening but managed to progress to the semifinals courtesy of a 5-4 aggregate success, with Karim Benzema’s 96th-minute effort at Bernabeu proving to be the deciding goal.
Los Blancos will take on Manchester City in the competition’s semifinals, and their first-place La Liga standing should give them an advantage in Europe.

Casemiro will be suspended, while Marcelo, Ferland Mendy and Eden Hazard are all injured. Dani Ceballos and Jesus Vallejo are also doubts due to COVID-19, while Isco faces a battle to overcome a back problem in time for the contest.
