The semi-finals of the Copa del Rey starts this week as in-form Sevilla look to overthrow Barcelona. The match schedules for Wednesday evening at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, with kickoff at 11 pm.
Sevilla is currently high while remaining unbeaten in seven matches and conceding in only one, while Barcelona won their last six matches. The winner of the tie will proceed to the finals to take on either Athletic Bilbao or Levante.
Barca’s seem to find their winning ways but are still not that convincing. Their recent 3-2 win over Real Betis is enough proof of the milestones needed to get back their mojo. The Catalan giants snatched the win three minutes before the final whistle courtesy of Francisco Trincao. The win maintained their slim chances of a La Liga title race win.
The win made it six in a row for Ronald Koeman, but there is an uphill task for closing the gap with league leader Atletico Madrid. Their race to the semi-finals has not come easy, with extra time needed to overcome Cornella and Granada in their previous three rounds of the Copa del Rey.
On the other hand, Sevilla needed extra time to see off Leganes in the last 32 before easing past Valencia and defeating Almeria to setup the semi-finals clash. Julen Lopetegui praised the trophy on five occasions.
