Saudi Arabia will be looking to move one step closer to sealing their place in the 2022 World Cup finals in Qatar come November when they host Oman at King Abdullah Sports City on Thursday night with kickoff at 20:15.
Saudi Arabia have made an impressive third round qualifying campaign with the side still remaining unbeaten in Group B after six matches. Thy have claimed five wins and one draw in the process collecting 16 points which have left them sitting at the summit of the group with four points in the clear.
However, they head into the match in a poor form having won none of their last three matches in the Arab Cup campaign where they lost two and drew one in Group C.
They will therefore be looking to bounce back to winning ways in this match and with Japan coming up next in a pivotal group match, the Green Falcons will be go in guns blazing for the three points. They will fancy their chances as they are in a good home form having won all their last home matches in a row and have won in their last two meetings with their Thursday visitors.
Meanwhile Oman have made an inconsistent third round qualifying campaign with the team recording two victories, one draw and three defeats in their six Group B matches to collect seven points, which have left them sitting in the fourth place with four points below the third-placed Australia.
They head into the match in a poor group form having only won one of their last five group matches and are coming off a 1-0 deft to Japan. Therefore they will be looking to put an end to the poor run as they aim at keeping their 2022 World Cup qualification hopes alive.
With only four points keeping them from the playoff spot and five keeping them out of the automatic qualification spots Oman will need to turn and with four matches remaining Oman will feel they still have some life line but they need to turn around their form if they are to keep their hopes alive.
