Genoa will be looking to make it back-to-back victories in Serie A on the bounce when they make a trip to Luigi Ferraris to take on Sampdoria in their Matchday 35 tie on Saturday evening with kickoff at 19:00.
Sampdoria have made a disappointing campaign this season with the club claiming 30 points from 34 matches and sit 16th, just two places and five points above the relegation zone. Therefore, with four matches remaining Sampdoria the five points keeping the cautious of the drop zone could be vital at the end of the season.
However, Samp are to face Lazio, Fiorentina and Inter Milan in the next final three, meaning that this weekend may be their final chance to claim three points this season. They also need the three points to increase their advantage on the bottom three, but they have been on a poor form as they have failed to win any of their last four league matches, suffering three defeats in the run.
Meanwhile Genoa have also made a poor campaign this season as only four matches remain to go and the Rossoblu sit 19th level on 25 points with 18th-placed Salernitana and three points away from safety. They gave their survival chances a boost last time out as they claimed a vital 1-0 win against 17th-placed Cagliari and another positive result this weekend could see them level on points with Cagliari.
With fixtures against Juventus and Napoli in their remaining four fixtures, Genoa need to win on Saturday if they are to stand a chance of claiming the now-coveted 17th spot. Their last weekend victory was a massive confidence-booster ahead of this clash and will be looking to build on it as they face a struggling Sampdoria.
